Housing Assistance
Incoming residents and fellows will be provided with the housing application and information in the employment packets sent by the House Staff office, but in the interest of submitting them as early as possible, the forms can be downloaded from http://redaf.med.nyu.edu/housing . Please do not submit them earlier than January 1 of the year of your start at NYULMC. Applications and supporting documents must be submitted as hard copies (faxes are okay) or scanned forms turned into pdf's. Our fax number is 212 263 7500.
In the House Staff-restricted area of the Housing website is information on NYU's Lease Guaranty program which can assist eligible house staff with meeting some landlords' financial requirements; Current guaranty limits are up to $1800 per month for a studio and up to $2200 per month for a one-bedroom apartment. You can log into that area after you receive your e-mail account and password from House Staff Affairs, following the confirmation of your employment. If you have trouble logging in, please contact the IT department.
Medical center housing availability is extremely limited. In accordance with the guidelines established by the Graduate Medical Education Committee, housing preference each spring is given to incoming PGY 1s and 2s coming to NYUMC from outside the New York City metropolitan area. Regrettably, most even in that group will not receive housing offers, due to short supply. Offers may be made from March through May, or until availability ends. If you remain interested in NYU Langone Medical Center housing after July 1 of the year you start work at NYULMC, you will need to reapply on or after July 1, when your original application becomes inactive.
Full-time compensated faculty members are eligible to apply for housing by downloading an application from http://redaf.med.nyu.edu/housing
Turnover in the few medical center faculty apartments is rare, and the list is not very active.
The information below can also be of assistance to any faculty or staff:
The Housing webpage http://redaf.med.nyu.edu/och includes a link to NYU's recommended real estate broker CitiHabitats, and also to buildings that rent directly to tenants without requiring a broker. CitiHabitats will discount their commissions for NYU. You will also find other relocation information (movers, schools, hotels, etc.)
If you have any questions, please email them to housing@nyumc.org or call 212 263 5025.
