The New York Harbor (Manhattan) Veterans Affairs Medical Center, referred to more commonly as the VA Medical Center, is a 201-bed acute care facility with more than 5,400 inpatient admissions and 337,000 outpatient visits annually. The hospital is a VA referral center in several specialties, including cardiology. The entire professional staff teaches at the School of Medicine and NYU faculty physicians provide subspecialty care. Each group of specialists works closely with its counterparts at Tisch and Bellevue Hospitals. The medical staff at the VA is nationally recognized for the excellence of its clinical work and research accomplishments.
The VA Hospital has a major focus on education for medical students and residents. Most of the training programs at the VA are integrated with the NYU School of Medicine Tisch and Bellevue Hospitals.
