GRAND ROUNDS: The first Department of Surgery Grand Rounds for the new academic year is scheduled for Wednesday, September 17th at 7:30am in Alumni Hall A. Please mark the new room. Dr. Leon Pachter, the George David Stewart Professor and Chairman of Surgery will speak on "Global Terrorism: Medical and Political Challenges of New Millennium." All surgical faculty and residents are strongly encouraged to attend. Please mark your calendars of this date and time.

ON THE RADIO: Dr. Manish Parikh was recently on a SIRIUS Doctor Radio program with Dr. JK Saunders and physicians from the Bellevue Medical Weight Management Program Tues Sept 9 discussing multidisciplinary management of Obesity.

PAPERS AND PRESENTATIONS:
Dr. Manish Parikh had an article in the August issue of the Bariatric Times: Establishing a Laparoscopic Bariatric Program in the Nation's Oldest Public Hospital - Bellevue Hospital Center in NYC. Co authors are: JK Saunders, M Kurian, G Fielding, C Ren and HL Pachter.

Drs. Mark Hobeika and Mikel Sadek published an article titled "Matrix Metalloproteinases in Critical Limb Ischemia" in this month's Journal of Surgical Research.
