MEDICAL-SURGICAL CONFERENCE: The monthly combined med-surg conference will occur this Thursday February 26, 2008 at 5pm. The treatment of hepatomas will be discussed. Refreshments begin at 4:30pm. All faculty, residents and students are urged to attend. Thank you.

GRAND ROUNDS: The next Surgery Grand Rounds lecture will be on Wednesday March 18, 2009 at 7:30 AM in Smilow 1st Floor Seminar Room. Dr. Marc Bessler, Surgical Director of the Center for Metabolic and Weight Loss Surgery and Director of Minimal Access Surgery at Columbia will present on "Natural orifice translumenal endoscopic surgery - NOTES." All Surgery Faculty and Residents are strongly encouraged to attend.

PAPERS AND PRESENTATIONS:
During his recent trip to India, Dr. Keith S. Heller visited Tata Memorial Hospital, the national cancer center in Mumbai where he lectured on Thyroid Cancer. He also made rounds with the ENT residents and lectured on Parathyroid Surgery at KEM Hospital, the Mumbai equivalent of Bellevue.

Dr. Ronald Simon gave three talks at the 16th Annual Trauma Symposium sponsored my Memorial Regional Trauma Center. Talks where on:
1) DVT and the trauma patient
2) Compartment syndromes
3) Present status of acute care surgery
