AMBER PREMIER VIDEO PARTY: Dr. Deborah Axelrod and her team are in the third year of AMBER project and have just received their third grant from The Komen Foundation. They have been hard at work with the first Arabic language breast cancer video. They are having our launch party on this Thursday, March 26 at 6PM in Bay Ridge (Salam Arabic Lutheran Church, 345 Ovington Ave, Brooklyn, NY). They have extended the invitation to everyone in the Department of Surgery to join them at the launch party. The event is open to the public so they would love to share their work with anyone else you would like to invite. Please RSVP via phone 212.263.4799 if you plan to attend. Dinner will be served.

MONTHLY MED-SURG CONFERENCE: The monthly medical-surgical conference will take place this Thursday, March 26th at 5:00pm in the Farber Auditorium in the Bellevue Lobby. The evaluation and treatment of a solitary lung nodule will be discussed. Refreshments begin at 4:30pm. All faculty, residents and students are urged to attend.

Dr. Lewis Teperman gave a grand rounds talk titled "Update on Liver Transplantation" at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead, NY on March 10, 2009.

Dr. Neal Cayne presented "Management of Renal Artery Aneurysms: Surgery, Endovascular Therapy, and Observation" at the Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery 37th Annual Symposium this past weekend.

Dr. Umut Sarpel had a paper published entitled "Adenocarcinoma Following Ileal Pouch-Anal Anastomosis for Ulcerative Colitis." Inflamm Bowel Dis. 2009 Feb;15(2):295-9. Branco BC, Sachar DB, Heimann T, Sarpel U, Harpaz N, Greenstein AJ.

Dr. Umer Chaudhry was first-author on a recently published review article, which discusses the management of resectable GIST.
