Bariatric Surgery
The NYU Program for Surgical Weight Loss is one of most highly regarded and experienced centers of its kind, offering adjustable gastric band, roux-en-y gastric bypass, and biliopancreatic diversion.
- 23-hour stay for nearly all thyroid surgeries – simple overnight stay allows patients to recover at home.
- Minimally Invasive Parathyroidectomy - often performed on an outpatient basis using local anesthesia with sedation.
- Intraoperative monitoring of parathyroid hormone levels during all parathyroid operations to help assure successful surgery.
- Radioguided parathyroid surgery in selected cases (Dr. Karen Hiotis)
- Laparoscopic Adrenal Surgery (Dr. Leon Pachter)
- Physician-performed thyroid and parathyroid ultrasonography – available during the initial consultation with ultrasound-guided needle biopsy and immediate interpretation when appropriate (Dr. Keith Heller)
