Chronic wounds are among the most common and serious medical problems faced by patients and hospitals today. According to the Center for Medicare Services (CMS), chronic wounds cost the United States as much as $25 billion dollars each year.
Under the leadership of Harold Brem, MD, FACS, the mission of the Wound Healing Center at NYU is to prove that every wound can heal. This philosophy is the focus of care at every level-from our wound clinic to the operating room to our research laboratories. Healing is not just an outcome, it's the expectation.
Comprehensive, innovative, and compassionate care forms the foundation of this program. Patients are treated at NYU Langone Medical Center and the Hospital for Joint Diseases by an interdisciplinary team of 17 health care professionals, including Surgeons, Podiatrists, Radiologists, Pathologists, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants. The team is unanimously committed to improving each patient's health and wellbeing through collaboration and partnerships with other clinicians, researchers, the patient and his or her family.
